Seongsu-dong, once a semi-industrial area, still retains remnants of its factory past, alongside a vibrant mix of cafes, shops, and cultural spaces. While many factories, particularly those producing handmade shoes and auto parts, have closed or been repurposed, some remain alongside auto repair shops and printing houses.

 

The area is now known for its unique blend of old industrial buildings transformed into trendy spaces and new businesses. The juxtaposition of old and new co-existing in the same streets remains a constant inspiration for ilgi.​
